"nursing excellent . catering & treatment abysmal"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

What I liked

all nurses, auxiliaries, and support staff very friendly and efficient.

What could be improved

meals. how someone in charge of catering can call some of the food we were served

palatable never mind nutritious is mind blowing. example one dinner was vegetable &

potato au gratin three of us odrered it and three dinners were sent back uneaten, it looked

like something the dog had brought up. I tried all the soups they all tasted the same except

the lentil. they were all straight out of packets and tasted like it what happened to fresh

vegetables. Food is part of your recovery while in hospital what we were supplied with

hindered our recovery.

Anything else?

overall impression of was he is over 70 so why waste time this was the impression gain from

the doctors

Thank you for your comments posted on this website regarding your stay in surgery at North Tyneside General Hospital.

The Trust was sorry to hear about your experience around meals. The catering staff are always happy to see patients concerning any meals served and I am sorry that the nursing staff did not suggest this to you. Please accept my apologies for this. I will ask our Chief Matron to remind all staff that catering staff should be contacted if there are concerns around meals served.

Thank you for taking the time to write.
