What I liked
As somebody who seriously dislikes being in hospital I was quite nervous of my minor operation yesterday. However, everyone on the staff, and I do mean everyone, treated me with the utmost care, consideration, and professionalism. The Student Nurse who 'booked me in' and did loads of the admin stuff was brilliant. The anaethetist visited me and went through their part, leaving me completely relaxed. The surgeon too, was informative and, to my liking, rather amusing. I was seriously impressed with the excellent working atmosphere and culture. on the ward and unit.
Unfortunately I think I had a slightly adverse reaction to the anaesthetic, and recovering from that was a bit of a problem for me, which made it a problem for the ward staff too. They were so patient and considerate, and with the anaethetist who came to see me, gave me stuff which helped enormously. I was the 'last man out' of the ward because of this, and felt bad about my inability to 'get up and go'. The staff were so considerate it was amazing.
Everyone who I saw and spoke to yesterday were an absolute credit to themselves, their ward, and to West Cornwall Hospital. I spent 35 years in a career in London before coming back to Cornwall in retirement, and what I experienced yesterday at WCH, in terms of sheer professionalism, was ahead of anything I witnessed in London. Well done, and Thank-you, All of You!
