What I liked
My stay was on Ward 27, Day Case Unit. I found the entire process from going through to be prepared for the surgery up until leaving the ward later in the afternoon very efficient, caring and professional. This included the theatre staff too from all the different clinicians.
All the staff I met were friendly and seemed to have good customer service skills as well as professionalism.
All areas looked very clean, and I saw the Dr gelling his hands before examining me - which I was reassurred about.
What could be improved
The is some movement for improvement in my opinion which then would make the experience as best as it could possibly be when going in hospital for an operation, these are:
1 -Myself and a number of other people were waiting outside the ward for it to open at 7.30 - it did open in time and we were sat in the ward lounge by 7.30 but it felt tight.
2 - On moving into the lounge we were as a group asked to wait and the staff went straight through - some more information at this time would have been beneficial and more personal service
3 - the music in both areas were I was pre and post op was thudding and noisey, this irritated me and was disrupting particularly when I was coming round from the anaesthetic - fortunately another patient who was pre surgery turned the racket down, and I had an ipod on my bag which the nurse brought me, but I still needed the sound higher than I would usually have to override the radio before I could relax.
"Very good, hope my health means I will not be..."
