"Very positive over an extended time and very many..."

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

What I liked

My wife has been receiving excellent care for 5 years from the Chemotherapy Day Centre and the Radiotherapy departments. We have had dozens and dozens of appointments and rarely had to wait more than 30mins, usually far less. The medical and administrative staff (and the volunteers) could not be more helpful and caring which is remarkable as they work in an extremely busy and demanding environment. And the response during the more stressful times, when it has been necessary to seek telephone advice, has been quick and reassuring. I am struggling to find a negative and from reading other reviews it seems that some aspects of the hospital fail to meet peoples' expectations, but our experience of the Oncology team has been very positive so I wanted to redress the balance a little

What could be improved

As a general point, car parking (in common with many hospitals) is a nightmare and raises stress levels on approaching the site for a timed appointment. You never know just how long it will take to find a space and on one unforgettable occasion it was 25 minutes driving around the whole site.

Anything else?

Our experience of other departments is also good, eg Phlebotomy, Acute Referral, and DAART where we have always been treated with respect and dignity.

The waiting times at Pharmacy are far too long but they are extremely busy.
