"A very positive experience."

About: Cirencester NHS Treatment Centre

What I liked

I was very nervous when I went to hospital for my surgery but I was immediately put at ease. Everything was explained to me clearly and all of my questions answered. The staff were very professional, caring and friendly. You were certainly treated as a respected individual. I do need to have further surgery and now look forward to returning to the Cirencester Treatment Centre.

What could be improved

I was admitted 2 and a half hours before my surgery and would have preferred not to wait so long (due to my nerves!). I was surprised to hear that my husband couldn't wait with me, but it was explained that there were only same sexed areas. However, magazines were provided. Perhaps a waiting room were you could stay with friends and family would be nice, once you've been "checked in"? Probably impractical though.

Following my General Anesthetic, I was quite dazed so didn't really take in all the information on pain relief and the print out given didn't explain it clearly enough.

I tried to call the 24 hour advice line repeatedly 2 days following my operation for some advice on pain relief but couldn't get through to anyone (it was a Sunday though).

When I rang the Cirencester Treatment Centre directly on the following Wednesday due to a concern I had, I did get through immediately and the nurse was very helpful.

Anything else?

Having read reports on NHS hospitals, I was expecting crowded, dirty conditions with fraught, uncaring staff. This was far from what I experienced and I can't praise them highly enough for their care and attention.
