What I liked

I visited the breast care unit on 1st of June and 8th of June. On both occasions the service from every member of staff with whom I dealt was exemplary. At my initial visit on the 1st the receptionist was welcoming and discreet; the consultant was down to earth and empathetic. The radiologists who performed the mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy were sympathetic and treated me as an individual and their professionalism inspired confidence that I was receiving expert and urgent care.

I returned on 8th of June and once again the reception from all staff was warm and reassuring. The breast care nurse took time to explain the results to me and once again I had a feeling of genuine concern and care for me as a patient and an individual. When i returned to the reception desk I handed in my form and the receptionist responded with ''Discharged. Fantastic''.

This was a worrying time made very much easier by the people who dealt with me. I had the feeling that the whole department worked as a team and there was a very genuine ethos of customer service and care for both the physical and mental welfare of patients. At no time was I made to feel just a part of the system. I was treated respectfully as an individual by people who clearly all took pride in their work.
