Due to the lack of basic needs and important medication either left on the table or floor, or not given on time. My Father became worse than when he was admitted. Not only with what he went in for but also dehydration, chest infection and delirium.
Staff were repeatedly told by famiy and Parkinson support team the importance of medication being given on time and that he would need help taking the medication as he could not use his hands. It was a over a week before we finally got to speak to a doctor to see what was happening.
We received countless apologies for lack of care, which should not have happened in the first place. What happens to those who have no one to speak up for them?
On this ward no member of staff knew about the needs of Parkinson suffers. It is a complex illness, needing understanding of individuals. When did the NHS become DIY?
