Waiting for Podiatry Services

The Podiatry staff are very good, but the waiting time is unacceptable for people who have circulation problems and who are supposed to be checked at least four times a year. But the waiting time has gone from 8-12 weeks to 32 weeks. This is not acceptable as visits take 5-15 minutes for the Podiatry nurse to cut your nails and check your feet.

With a waiting list it seems that every person in Knowsley; man, women and child has poor circulation in their feet.

This service is not fit for its' purpose.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment regarding your experience with the Podiatry Service. It is really important to us that our patients tell us about their experiences. I am pleased that you feel that the Podiatry staff are very good, but you have also highlighted the important issue that you feel that the waiting times between appointments is unacceptable.

We are aware that due to the high demand for the service, the length of time between your visits has increased to an unacceptable length of time, and we are currently trying to address this issue of bringing the waiting times down across the whole service. To enable us to do this we have been given some extra funding to allow us to book extra podiatry sessions at our clinics. The waiting times are being closely monitored and you will start to see an improvement in the near future.

Our patients are prioritised according to their clinical need, but due to our eligibility criteria to access our podiatry service a very high percentage of our patients do have circulatory problems or other medical conditions that affect their foot health. If you would like more specific information related to the clinic at which you attend or feel that your foot care needs should be reassessed by your podiatrist, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on freephone 0800 073 0578.
