I was in Crawley Hospital having treatment on my feet and the fire alarm went off (end of August 2012).
Nobody knew if the alarm activation was genuine or a test. Staff ignored the alarm, were disorganised and ill informed. The lifts were still working and had not been locked down to stop them working.
There didn't seem to be any Fire Marshalls and no roll call was made. Also, staff should have been stopping people leaving or entering the site as this impeded the emergency services.
I hope you find these comments helpful and constructive. I have worked in Facilities in both private and public sectors so I have experience of emergency evacuations!
