"Midwives at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant"

About: The Royal Glamorgan Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had an horrific pregnancy and was admitted on to ward 10 so many times in the 9 months I was pregnant I've lost count. Everytime I was there I had a fantastic midwife, her name was Louise Hogan (all the midwives were fantastic). I remember the very 1st time I was addmitted & I couldnt stop being sick & I was really embarrased, Louise was fantastic to me & I was lucky enough to have her look after me everytime I was there. Coming to the end of my pregnancy I didn't see her there but was lucky enough to have a lovely midwife (Kath) who was also pregnant & had been quite sick herself.

Anyway... The consultants had decided that they would probably induce me at 37 weeks so I was back and fore for a couple of weeks having steroid injections, antibiotics & iv fluid etc & was quite sad that my pregnancy was coming to an end and Louise wasn't there to talk to.

Kath induced me & all was great, the time came and I was takem to the delivery suite, I was taken over during a shift change, I knew 1 of the midwives, come 9: 15pm the last shift change of the night I was worried as this person would be the one to bring my baby boy into the world. I can not explain the relief I felt when I saw Louise's face walk into my room. I was elated. She, in my eyes, is THE best midwife I have ever come across. She will always hold a special place in my heart, I'm gutted my mother forgot to take a picture of her & my baby, all I have is a picture of her hand haha. I wish I could talk to her sometimes, especially last week when my baby was in hospital for 5 days with no clue as to what was wrong with him.

I hope I get to work with her one day, and if I ever have another baby, I know I'm in safe hands. I couldn't have gone through labour so smoothly with another midwife.

MASSIVE thank you to Louise Hogan & all the midwives of the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant.
