"ultra sound scan with dignity and respect"

About: Hartlepool PCT

(as the patient),

Last week I went for an ultra sound scan at One Life Hartlepool. I admit to being a bit apprehensive as the last one I had (on my ankles) was very uncomfortable as the chap had said it won't hurt as he would just be applying a bit of pressure. It was very uncomfortable and my ankles/feet throbbed for days!

This time was totally different.

The ultrasonographer and helper helped me remove my splints and was very gentle. Everything was explained to me and she even let me stay in my wheelchair. On completion my splints were replaced.

The ultrasonographer was gentle and pleasant ... and spoke to me. When I explained about having ME/CFS and inflammatory arthritis she seemed to understand the implications.

I was very impressed with her taking a holistic approach in 'dealing with' me. I believe she was called Rhonda and would recommend patients ask for her to be assured of dignity and respect.
