"Forth Valley Royal Hospital care of our mum"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Elderly medicine Scottish Ambulance Service

(as a relative),

Our mum first was admitted to the hospital in February this year where she spent six weeks in A32 , the staff were very sympathetic and caring and made this stay as comfortable as possible. When the family needed to visit which included overnight stays it was accommodated without any fuss and made sure we had everything we needed.

Over the next few months she visited the hospital as an outpatient and recently was admitted to the AAU unit where she received excellent care. She was then transferred to A11 where she spent the last few days of her life. The staff were very sympathetic and handled her death to ensure that she was pain free and with dignity.

We cannot praise the hospital enough for their help and compassion during the last few days of her life.

Our thanks also to ambulance staff who transported her on several occasions to the hospital with care and compassion.

Dear scottyb

I'm very grateful to you for sharing this with with us as I'm sure its been difficult time. So glad your mum and your family felt well cared for in all the deparments you mentioned.

I'm going to share your story with the staff in A32, A11 and outpatients . It's always good for staff to know when they deliver care that meets patients and families needs, especially in this situation. It's important.

Many thanks again

Response from Sharon Hammell, Head of Corporate Affairs and Engagement, Scottish Ambulance Service

Dear scottyb

I'm really sorry that you lost your mum.

It was really kind of you to take the trouble to let people know that your mum was well cared for, and the needs of the family looked after, too.

I will pass on your feedback about the care and compassion shown by our ambulance staff. It will mean a lot to them to know they helped your mum and the family during such a difficult time.
