"Help with Lyme Disease treatment"

About: Devon PCT Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

Comparing notes with a friend in the US who has Lyme, I recalled a tick bite in 1997 while on Dartmoor, and removing the tick myself the next day.

My symptoms are all classic for Lyme infection. My GP of her own admission knows nothing about Lyme Disease. I had to insist on testing and was found to have antibodies to Babesia (only positive result). After so long the Babesia will have cleared, but I may still have other infections as I still have symptoms.

For the past several years I've been diagnosed by my GP and rheumatologist with 'maybe fibromyalgia', 'maybe chronic pain syndrome'. I consulted BADA UK for help and finally my GP has agreed to a trial of abx.

I even had to tell her that I needed 100mg doxycyline twice a day minimum, not the once a day that she initially prescribed, as a trial for at least a month ("Oh yes you're right, it does say 100mg twice a day", when I went back to her).

There is no one in the NHS who can help me, apparently, with the appropriate treatment. I do not have the money to get private treatment. HELP!
