"Removal of lump and biopsy at my GP's surgery"

About: North Lancashire Teaching PCT

(as the patient),

I had a lump removed for biopsy at my GP's surgery today, Ashtree House Surgery in Kirkham. I wore my cleanyourhands badge and blue awareness ribbon, which is a symbol of the national charity MRSA Action UK.

We talked about infection control, and I could already see that this was a top priority.

Everything was prepared and set out in an aseptic field before I even mentioned our charity's work. Hand hygiene and aseptic non touch technique, including attention to putting sterile gloves on in the right way, were assiduously carried out.

The skill of the doctor and nurse gave me confidence and I was not at all worried about the procedure, even though I know from other experiences the consequences of getting an infection.

Thank you to staff at Ashtree House, Kirkham.
