"Changes in mental health boundaries create additional concern and is unsettling"

About: Brighton and Hove City PCT / Primary care mental health service Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Working age mental health care (community)

(as the patient),

I am hoping that a change of doctor's surgery due to mental health boundary changes in Brighton and Hove will result in a better rather than worse doctor. I have also put a lot of effort into building up a good relationship with previous doctor and now starting again from scratch. Will be in limbo until new doctor patient relationship established.

Hope Sussex Partnership Trust aware of additional support needed from secondary mental health teams who are already overloaded? The change is very unsettling and an additional concern on top of coping with a severe mental health condition.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and I apologise for the delay in responding

I am sorry that the changes are unsettling and have meant that you need to change GP as having a good working relationship with your doctor is very important. The aim of the restructure is to provide a better service for people in Brighton and Hove in the future - but naturally change can worry and sometimes inconvenience people who use services and their carers who as you say often have a lot on their plate already.

We are trying to mitigate concerns by working closely with GP colleagues and making sure that our staff know what is happening and so are in a position to explain this to the people they work with and to give them appropriate support to manage the uncertainty. If this is not happening in your case I urge you to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison service on 01323 446042 or PALS@sussexpartnership.nhs.uk so that you can discuss putting things right in your individual situation

Kind regards
