I'm in my 20's and have had back pain for about 5 months. I've had very little support just useless pain killers. I study and work in a shop. I ended up taking time off because work was making the pain worse.
I have had anxiety and depression in the past I feel the stress of this situation is causing me to feel low again. I asked a sick note for more time off (a week or two). I've never had this before.
My GP pulled a face and began telling me what I was asking for was a sick note because it was inconvenient to go to work and I just had a lot on my plate and I would be coming back asking for more time off. This really upset me because she was putting words into my mouth and ignoring what I was saying. She was dismissing what could be the start of mental health problems recurring.
When I tried to say my part, she again told me what I was saying and wouldn't really let me speak. I was the most humiliating experience I have had. I cried she could see I was upset but still behaved in this disgraceful way.
I will change practice but this has put me off going to see a gp about my health problems. I'm shocked.
