"Problems getting to Imaging Dept at the new Victoria Hospital."

About: New Victoria Hospital / X-rays and scans

(as the patient),

I was disappointed to have to struggle with heavy and closed doors on my way in to the department. I have 2 walking sticks which I require at all times. This must also present problems for those carrying things or for trolleys.

I had delightful attention from Hilda, the radiographer who went out of her way to take me back through the doors to the reception area. It was a good experience.

Thank you for providing this feedback, this was reviewed by the Facilities Manager at the Hospital who has advised that she is aware of the difficulties these particular doors pose. The reason the doors are heavier than normal is that they are fire doors and as such have to comply with building regulations, however the Facilities Team are looking at the feasibility of having door 'hold open' devices to connect to the fire alarm system to make the easier to open, but still comply with the appropriate regulations.

I was however glad to read that your were assisted and the staff involved will be delighted to read your very kind comments.

Thank you also for taking the time to provide these comments, they are appreciated.

Paul
