About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

Having a previous medical condition which was seen by Stoke hospital and PRH, to be offered an appointment at New Cross was not relevant to me.

Having difficulties dealing with 2 hospitals in the past to offer me a 3rd, I felt was inappropriate and to me shows the hospital offered is seen as a poor choice by patients as it was the only one with immediate vacancies.

Please accept my apologies for your disappointing experience of the TRAQS service.

The TRAQS service receives your referral electronically from your GP Practice, the TRAQS team are guided by the information in your referral letter and were not aware that you had been seen previously by PRH and Stoke. It was sent to TRAQS as a new referral and the patient advisors role is to provide patients with up to date information on the various choices of hospitals available and their waiting times.

Waiting times at hospitals can vary for a number of different reasons i.e. the number of clinics that they hold for a particular problem, the size of the hospital and the number of consultants available etc. Patient choice came into existence in 2005 in line with the NHS constitution, we have to offer patients choice of hospital, however it is your right to choose to go wherever you feel is appropriate.

All calls are recorded, the TRAQS advisors follow a call script which combined with the information received from your GP, will be dependent on the choice of hospital offered.
