"After care for a patient who has had cataract surgery."

About: Newham PCT / District nursing

(as a friend),

The GP made the referral for a District Nurse to call on my neighbour after cataract surgery on the 30th July. This was to administer eye drops four times a day for two weeks and twice a week for the following two weeks.

The plan for this was made on the evening of the 30th July and drops were put in but then it all went wrong as no one called on the 31st July until 15.25, after several phone calls to the service.

The after care is so important after a cataract operation and I feel the service has failed my neighbour. You must do better, especially as the District Nurse that called at 15.25 on the 31st July said they could not make the required calls even though it had been arranged.

Poor service.
