"Positive experience of colposcopy"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was referred for a colposcopy after having a borderline cervical smear test at my GP practice.

I wasn't looking forward to the procedure and as expected it was a little uncomfortable, but not at all painful.

I wanted to record here that the team at the colposcopy clinic were fantastic. They made me feel at ease and it was clear that it was important to them that I was as comfortable as possible. They explained everything really clearly about the procedure and gave me lots of opportunities to ask questions. When I felt a bit faint after the procedure they were really kind and gave me time to come round. Afterwards they gave reassurance about the onward process.

It was inspiring to experience such good care at the hands of a team who clearly have the core principles of nursing at heart.

Any ladies referred here should feel reassured that you will be very well looked after.

Thank you!
