Following diagnosis of Crohns Disease one year ago I've had two surgical procedures, numerous investigations, a variety of different medications and more visits to GP's and Consultants than I can count.
I was introduced to a Specialist Bowel Nurse and for the first time I felt understood and I felt listened to. I often keep a lot of by problems/concerns to myself and 'get on with it' - as that's the problem with having a 'hidden illness' - a lot of the time you look fine, even when you feel absolutely rubbish.
The nurse listened to me, comforted me, offered advice. She didn't just reel off medical jargon, she took the time to discuss how my illness can affect other areas of my life such as work and my mental health.
She was amazing.
"Amazing specialist nurse for my Crohn's disease"
