"Endoscopy - I would not be concerned if I had to go through the procedure again"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

Yesterday I attended the unit for an endoscopy. I was apprehensive to say the least but from the moment I walked in, I was put at ease by the staff.

I was undecided as to having sedation or not and after discussing my concerns with the nurse, I managed with a few breaths of gas and air plus the throat numbing solution. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it was all over within 5 to 6 minutes. The staff administering the procedure were excellent and talked me through it encouraging me at all times.

After a short time in recovery and a welcome cup of coffee, the results were explained to me and I returned home.

Thank you to all the staff for your kindness and patience. I would not be concerned if I had to go through the procedure again.
