"I havn't lost faith in ambulance staff, just their call handlers"
Posted by skizzy (as ),
i called for ambulance assistance last month as my son was doubled over with pain in his right lower stomach. i was shocked to be told that pain doesn't warrant an ambulance to come.
i have never called an ambulance before for any of my children, myself or my husband and my mind boggles as to what does warrant an ambulance if this does not?
i do appreciate that the service is a busy one, but as my own father, my sister and my husband have all had peritonitis i couldn't take the chance with my own son (who never complains with illness).
i wasn't asked where the pain was i was just told that pain (even though i said he was doubled over) doen't warrant an ambulance.
i thank the lord we have use of a car as the woman at the other end was just going to pass our details to nhs 24 and told me they would contact me within an hour. we took him to A&E ourselves and the staff were brilliant and we were told there to complain about this.
well done staff at the Inverclyde Royal Hospital, i thank you for your care and attention. I haven't lost faith in the ambulance workers, just their call handlers.
