"Faultless care for my parotidectomy"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Maxillo-Facial surgery

(as the patient),

I had a total conservative parotidectomy for chronic sialedenitis at Northampton General Hospital on Tuesday and would really like to praise all the staff involved in my care.

My surgery was 4 hours long and I then spent 3 days and 2 nights on the Head and Neck ward. The care from the moment I arrived at Main Theatre Admissions was faultless. Everything was explained to me and I was reassured at all times.

The nursing staff were just fantastic, a very light hearted team with an excellent rapport and team work who really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Nothing was too much trouble and this care aided my great recovery. The surgeons did a fantastic job and after being warned of facial nerve paralysis, this was very minor which showed the skill of the surgeons. The ward was very clean and had a lovely outlook over an accessible garden area with seating and flower beds.

I am now recovering well at home. People regularly criticise the NHS and may genuinely have good reason to but in my opinion I couldn't fault the care I received and this department (Max Fax and Head and Neck) truly deserve a well deserved pat on the back. Thank you x
