"Good care at Exeter and Tiverton"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Rheumatology Tiverton and District Hospital / Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

As a rheumatoid arthritis patient from across the border in Somerset, when first diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, I opted for The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, as they could provide the earliest appointment.

After initial treatments at Exeter RD&E in 2009, a hospital I was impressed with in terms of cleanliness, facilities, (dedicated parking, canteen, shop etc) and efficient, friendly patient care, my brilliant rheumatologist Dr Mascarenhas gave me the option of treatment at Tiverton clinic which I accepted on the basis of it being an easier journey and less busy.

I was right. It's a lovely clean, modern, friendly place, with easy parking and I'm always straight in and out. I've never had to wait long for treatment and in all honesty, couldn't fault this service.

I have spoken with Dr Mascarenhas and he has asked me to thank you for your very kind comments.

It is always a pleasure to hear positive feedback and I would like to thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience at Tiverton. I have forwarded your compliment to the staff and management at the Tiverton Hospital.

Keep up the good work. I have always subscribed to the belief that the horror stories we read about the NHS represent a very small minority of cases and that the vast majority perform a wonderful service. Of course this is not newsworthy, but it is nevertheless true. There is no such thing as perfection in any organisation. Human nature will always throw up some anomalies.
