"No dignity or confidentiality for children in A&E"

About: Newham General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My child was assessed by the nurse who then asked for a doctor to "listen to a chest".

My son was then walked across the waiting area bare chested to be weighed. The nurse asked us to take a seat at the waiting area for the doctor to listen to his chest and said not to bother putting on his shirt, as the doctor was coming to listen to his chest.

The doctor came and listened to my son's chest right in the middle of the waiting area, amidst all the noise and crying in the waiting area and then went on to report their findings to the nurse right there, and give treatment instructions in the waiting area.

Other parents also had their treatments explained to them at the waiting area, leaving everybody to listen to everybody's business.
