"Hard working nurses"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I have had numerous appointments, visits (to family) and stays overnight.

On various wards and A&E I have observed dedicated, hard working, under funded staff doing the best they can. I am embarassed by the crass ignorance and general abuse given to staff by patients. What people don't realise is that if a major trauma call comes in, your hang nail will have to wait. Think it over!

Forget what you see on TV - it's not like that.

Nurses rarely get breaks, if they do it's at 'Ridiculous o'clock'. Many seem to work 13+ hours shifts and are lucky to have time to pee...

It's not their fault that successive governments have given them less pay, more work and paperwork. Be lucky we have the NHS.
