"The long wait"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I attended Northampton General Hospital a week after having eye surgery for a checkup. I waited 1 hour 30 minutes and spent less than 2 minutes with the specialist who looked at my scar and said that's fine, come back in 6/7 weeks to have tubes removed.

This was a complete waste of her time and mine. Surely my GP could have looked at the scar and if he had any concerns refer me back to the hospital.

Thank you for your comments. We do understand your frustration at the apparent waste of time - however a majority of GP's prefer the Opthalmic specialist to review all post-operative patients to ensure there are no complications following surgery.

We hope you continue to make a good recovery.
