In April 2009 I underwent hip replacement surgery in Grimsby because of osteoarthritis and since that time the wound has never properly healed with repeated infections despite a debridement and intravenous antibiotic injections. Nothing worked and my condtion deteriorated. I became despondent because of the lack of real progress even though I was regularly consulting my GP and orthopaedic specialist.

However in the autumn of 2011 I accessed the skin integrity team in Cleethorpes following advice from the skin health collaborative in Grimsby and their professional help has turned things around for the better, in as much that I have was referred to professor Ian Stockley in Sheffield to operate to remove my infected hip to begin the recovery process.

I feel that if it had not been for the advice and action of the two teams mentioned above I would still be without real hope of recovery
