What I liked

I chose the East Surrey for the birth of my second child. I had my daughter at worthing and the birth had complications. I had been monitored the whole way through with my son as I have a low bmi and they were concerned he would he small.

I laboured alone as my husband looked after my daughter. I went into the delivery suite half an hour before shift change over and was seen very quickly. The initial midwife was excellent and made sure the midwife who took over was informed of everything.

The labour itself was fast but the support of the midwife was priceless. He kept me informed and encouraged. He was assisted by a maternity support worker and she was also amazing. I went in at half 6, had my son at 9:55pm and was discharged by 12pm. I was happy to go home and had expressed my wish that if everything was fine id rather go home. Not at all was I forced out the door.

After the delivery they were swift and thorough in clearing the room of any undesirable items before my husband and daughter arrived. I really cannot appraise them enough!! I had heard so many horror stories and my experience couldn't have been better. My son was 1lb 1oz heavier than my daughter and I had a completely natural birth except for a small cut which was stitched up promptly after delivery with no discomfort to myself. I think having such excellent staff during delivery kept me completely calm and focused enough to need no assistance this time. Thank you East Surrey Maternity Team!!

What could be improved

Nothing at all. It was clean, polite staff and efficient care.
