"Generally no complaints about Dr Grays"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Orthopaedics (Bones, Joints and Fractures)

(as the patient),

Most of my care at Dr Gray’s has been fine and everybody has been quite good.

One thing I found most annoying was when the doctor spoke about me with other staff in front of me. They didn’t speak directly to me but over my head. I’m not stupid.

Also one time when I was more ill I went for a shower with the nurse helping me. The nurse left to do something else and I was stuck in a claustrophobic small shower, I couldn’t get out. It was quite frightening and I had to shout for help. The nurse was really apologetic, I could see that but I don’t think I should have been left.

Sometimes I felt I was a bit rushed for example getting my legs into bed. I would have managed myself if I had enough time and been left to it.

The physio and the student have been really great. They asked me if I minded the student being involved, I didn’t, everyone has to learn. They pushed and encouraged me but didn’t force me to do anything.

Generally I have no complaints it’s been pretty good.

Thank you for your really positive comments about your care in Dr Gray's hospital. I'll pass on your comments to the physio team .

I'm glad they asked you if the student could be involved in your care and you were helping them learn when you let them work with you.

I'll also speak to the clinical lead in orthopaedics about how you perceived your conversations with the doctors involved in your care. I can appreciate how you felt when they looked above you rather than directly at you.

I'll also remind the nurses in the ward that sometimes they could save themselves some time if they allowed the patient to do a bit more for themselves instead of rushing the patients.

Thank you for your story.. without it I wouldn't know about some of the issues you have raised and unless I'm told I cannot do anything about it
