"Fantastic job with a slight hic-cup, overall thank..."

About: Russells Hall Hospital

What I liked

I went into Russells Hall hospital around midday o the 3/6/12 and left on 4/6/12 about 24 Hrs after arrivng. I arrived with a UTI and the worst thing about this is wanting the toilet every 5 minutes, having MS does not help as i cant get to the toilet as quick as i would like. Also having the UTI makes you extremely weak and transferring in and out of my wheelchair seems Extremely difficult. After being assessed i was recommended some anti biotics and left with the confidence that i would have the tablets which i needed, bought to me at home. That evening i was just waiting for them and, to me no suprise they did not arrive so the following morning i called the emergency doctor and they reccomended i call Russells hall, so i did. I spoke to a sister and she asked if i could get there or get someone else to collect them for me. I said leave it and i shall wait for my doctors surgery to open and i will get a script from my doctor. Then not long later my phone went and it was Russells hall saying that yes it was said that the tablets were going to be delivered to me, thank god at last. When changing shifts it is pretty much essential that nothing gets left out, i know that being xforces. Plus these things seem to always happen to me of a bank holiday.

What could be improved

Just for it to have been handed thats all, the smallest mistakes can cause unwanted problems, but i pretty used to it.

Anything else?

I can only say that i do beileive hospital staff do a fantastic job i am just glad it was not a Friday or Saturday night i was there.

Thank you, Paul, for taking the time to post your feedback about your experience of your visit to Respiratory Medicine. We welcome all feedback and would like to reassure you that comments are acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving patient and carer experience.

We are sorry for the difficulty you have experienced with your medication, and it does appear there has been an issue with communication between teams working different shifts. We have passed your comments on to the senior manager who will discuss the issues you have raised with the Respiratory team.
