"To me, my experience showed the NHS at its best."

What I liked

I was on holiday at the time. Unfortunately, it was necessary for me to attend the hospital and spend the day there. i was extremely impressed with the service I received from the receptionist, the Consultant and the nursing staff. I could have absolutely no complaints about the standard of care I received and even though it was something of a shock to learn I was suffering from Type 1 diabetes, I was able to leave the hospital in the evening with all the required medication and equipment and follow up appointments with specialist nurses. One of these nurses spent a considerable time with me in the evening which must have been outside her normal hours.

Both the nursing staff and the doctor kept me fully informed throughout the day and I was always treated with the utmost respect..

I am no longer resident in the UK but in the few weeks I was in the Lake District, appointments with specialist nurses, dietician and local GP were all arranged.... a fantastic service

What could be improved

Finding a way to make other patients either switch of their mobile phones or at least use a silent setting.
