"If i could have gone home right after delivery it..."

What I liked

The delivery ward, they were very helpful and understanding. I was a first time mum, and they never left me alone in the room (and i was there for a good 12 hours). As soon as the delivery was inminet the room was filled with doctors and nurses just in case something bad happened. Though the midwife was a little bit rough, it was what i needed. The delivery room was spotless. I cannot complain about my delivery at all.

The community midwifes, they were and are the best support you could ever ask. The bf consultant, I will never forget her and how much she helped me recovering from that awful experience in the recovery room.

What could be improved

The recovery ward specialy the midwifes: it was the most horrible experience of the whole pregnancy and delivery. I fought with almost all the midwives. Doctors requests were ignore by the midwifes. I cannot believe that after all the trauma of labor this people treat you in such a rough way. No helping you with breastfeeding at all. At the moment I said that i wanted to bf I was left completely alone withno idea of what i was doing. After only 6 hours I was incredibly in pain with sore and bleeding niples and their answer was that it was supossed to hurt and I was very sensible. By the night my baby was crying and i was told by one of the midwifes that I was waking up the whole ward and I should calm my baby and feed him with formula! I was even given a bottle. At the same time i was told by other nurse how bad of a mother i was for not bf (even tough I was and i was doing it with so much pain). Everybody in that place was very rude, and i found out that people saying that they did not want to bf were the ones that got help and even were preasured to do so. One nurse stayed with one mother for almost one good hour, when I asked for help with bf, the same nurse handled me the baby and lef the room!

Anything else?

When i talked about my experience and how bad turned out to be after the delivery, everybody blames the expending cuts. The midwifes don't have personel enough to spend time with each mother and make sure they're doing well, instead they leave them to their own devises. I agree that this cuts have taken its toll on the nHS system, but nothing gives them the right to treat you as a piece of meat and be that rude and unhelpful. At the end of the day, it's their jobs to take care of the mothers and work with them with dignity and respect
