"Good care received at Thomas Linacre Centre and Leigh Infirmary"

About: Leigh Infirmary / Breast surgery Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I am undergoing a series of exploratory procedures in the Breast Care Unit at the Thomas Linacre Centre (Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust) and in connection with this had an exploratory operation at Leigh Infirmary on 23 May 2012. At both locations I have received excellent care. The kindness of staff at the TLC Breast Care Unit, and, in particular, the reassuring expertise of Karen, have been outstanding. Also, the Personal Nurse system, by which a named nurse (in my case, Julie) maintains telephone contact, is a mark of the quality of the service.

My experience of day surgery, under general anaesthetic, at Leigh Infirmary, was equally positive. From the gentleman on reception who took me personally to the ward, being greeted by name on arrival at Ward 2, through until I was discharged later that day, the nurses, anaesthetist and surgeon were kind and efficient and the ward and hospital were clean and tidy. I could not have received better care anywhere. Thank you to both sets of staff.
