"Not satisfied with my GP practice"

I'm not satisfied with the service provided at my GP practice and am going to change to a different practice. I have found the appointment system frustrating and some of the staff unhelpful - phoned yesterday for an appointment and told there weren't any - I'd have to have a phonecall consultation this morning, but it would be first thing (I think this was said in an accusing tone and I felt that it was implied that I was a layabout). I pointed out I could barely speak and phonecalls are difficult at the moment, to no avail. Phoned up this morning, and hey presto, two appointments with a GP were magically available. I think this is a ridiculous system!

Am also concerned about treatment provided by GPs - my boyfriend had severe digestive problems last year (needing toilet 30 times a day) and kept being repeatedly sent away by GP and told to wait another 6 weeks for hospital appointment. He ended up requiring emergency surgery to remove his entire colon, which I believe could possibly have been prevented if treatment / referral had been prompter.
