What I liked
My son was admitted to the hospital on Monday 28th May and spent a night on ward F8 - the Starlight Children's Ward - following an operation by the Maxillofacial team. The care, treatment and attention he received was outstanding. I cannot praise all the staff highly enough, from the moment he arrived in Children's A&E, to the moment we left the ward - everyone was fantastic.
I was very impressed by the focused attention they gave my child. The way that every proceedure was explained in appropriate language and with the utmost care and consideration was second to none. The anaesthetists were brilliant in involving my child in his care and putting him at ease. Same too with the consultants, who were again incredibly fantastic.
Back on the ward the nurses, play staff and auxiliaries were amazing. I can never thank them enough for what they did. Nothing was too much trouble and the care my son (and me!) received was truly first class. The facilities on the ward were excellent: the parents room with shower and much needed coffee, the school room where my son had a science lesson - and my son's favourite - the well stocked play room! I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the ward and of the hospital generally.
My son has had proceedures at other hospitals, but the experience we had at Wythenshawe has by far been the best.
"Outstanding!"
