What I liked
The a&e staff were very caring and understanding when we took my 16 month niece in to be seen for an ongoing problem.
What could be improved
The doctors on Kingfisher ward were very unhelpful and had a disgusting attitude towards our family. My niece was repeatedly poked with a needle to try and get blood and this was very distressing to watch as the nurse was gripping her arms so tightly that they have both bruised. The last attempt was the one that made us as a family decide to discharge my niece from the hospital care. It was horrendous watching a doctor who had admitted to us he doesnt usually take blood but will give it a go stick this needle into her hand and continue to push it around trying to get the blood all the while my niece was hyperventilating and screaming with pain. When we asked to leave the form was thrown at us to sign and the attitude from the female doctor was absolutely appaling.
The doctors need to understand that babies cant tell you they are in pain. THey also need to read medical notes and ascertain that it is an ongoing problem.
