"Cancer Surgery at Western Infirmary"

About: Western Infirmary/Gartnavel General / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I recently had a mastectomy for Breast Cancer at the Western Infirmary under the wonderfully excellent care of Mr Wilson and Dr Stevens. i have a complicated medical history and i'm an anaesthetic nightmare because of neck surgery in 2008. Nothing has been too much for him and they have bent over backwards too look after me. If it hadnt have been for Mr Wilson doing my original op and finding the cancer in the first place, i would be dead today and i am forever grateful. Thanks to Mr Wilson, im now looking forward to reconstruction and getting my body back. The surgery was devastating but totally necessary.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your very kind feedback.

I will ensure that this is passed on to those involved and I am sure that they will be very pleased to read your comments.

I am sorry that this posting was not acknowledged at the time, we had a break in our use of Patient Opinion, but we have now resumed doing so, and I thought it was still important to acknowledge your posting and where appropriate to pass comments on.

Once again, thank you for using the Patient Opinion feedback system, it is greatly appreciated.

Mr Wilson, Dr Stevens and all of the staff at the Western Infirmary will be delighted to read your very thoughtful remarks. We wish you every success for the future.
