What I liked

The standard of medical and nursing care was exceptionally good and I was involved in my care plan at all times. It is fair to say that without the skill of the medical staff I would not be alive today. On the ward, the nursing staff were superb, friendly, caring and efficient.

What could be improved

The car park was too far from the hospital.

The hospital should have free wi-fi for patients.

I was unhappy with the TV arrangements.

Anything else?

I consider myself lucky that I was taken to this hospital as they undoubtedly saved my life and I will always be very grateful. The positive things by far outweigh the minor negative points.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent inpatient stay at Salford Royal. It is great to read such positive comments about your clinical care from the medical and nursing teams.

Thank you also for your feedback on things you felt could be improved. It may be helpful to explain that the hospital is in the final stages of a £200million redevelopment which has unfortunately caused some disruption to car parking, including the temporary relocation of the patients and visitors car park across the road from the hospital on Stott Lane. However, a new centrally located car park is nearing completion which will offer much greater access to all areas of the hospital. It is due to be handed over to the hospital in June this year and should be in commission soon after.

Regarding the provision of free wi fi, unfortunately this is not something we can currently offer. There would be large costs involved to the organisation to provide such a service which would take finanical resources away from frontline clinical services. We are however currently exploring the provision of a wifi hotspot on site such as BT Openzone etc, much like many organisations such as hotels and outdoor public spaces use. These services usually allow users to pay per use.

I am sorry to read that you are unhappy with the TV arrangements. As is common in many hospitals, the hospital has bed-side television and phone consoles in most of the wards. Patients can choose to use these services on a pay-per-view basis. These are supplied and managed by a private company, Hospedia. Prior to this, the usual arrangement in hospitals was one television per ward in the day room. If you have any issues with the provision of the service by Hospedia, they have a dedicated customer care team who can assist with most queries.
