What I liked
There were several key points I would like to make about may recent stay for appendix removal:
1) All members of staff were polite, professional, friendly and helpful.
2) The service I received was very prompt and communicated very well to me.
3) There was an obvious approach to cleanliness, with cleaning taking place very regularly.
What could be improved
Only one minor point relative to the whole experience:
1) I feel I could have been left with better aftercare information. In the rush/excitement to be discharged, I probably didn't ask enough questions about what I should and shouldn't do to aid recovery. I would have welcomed a nurse spending more time with me to details the do's and don'ts after discharge from hospital. For example, I was never informed if mild exercise was good or bad for recovery, and what would class as mild or heavy exercise.
Anything else?
I cannot state in words just how excellent the ward nurses were. It is fair to say that there are different types of patients, from the quiet and forgiving to agressive and needy. Despite the stress and hassles that nurses experience from different types of patients, the nurses were always positive (even if they had just been in a very difficult situation). Also, in circumstances that I found very uncomfortable, the nurses were always able to be professional and restore calm to the situation and any other patients close by. I was amazed to experience first hand some of the things that the nurses have to put up with, but I cannot praise the nurses enough for how well they deal with these sorts of events on a regular basis.
"Positive and was largely due to the skill and..."
