"Bad - I hope I won't be requiring your services"

What I liked

I have just moved to Windsor, so have yet to register with a GP. I walked into the Eye clinic this afternoon. After I hr I was seen by a triage nurse who didn't seem interested in my symptons - and she merely told me that the whites of my eyes were ok. I had to read the board to check my eyesight and that was ok too. I had to insist that my eyelids were puffy and sore, very dry, inflamed. She was completely ambivolent. I had a bag of preparatory sprays, creams and drops bought over the counter - she didn't seem interested. She told me I should register with a dr. I know that! I haven't got round to it yet and I don't know which one to choose. The conclusion to this episode, was that I was refused a visit by the Dr. at the clinic because I was not registered with a GP. So now what do I do? I want to pull my eyes out - my eyelids are so sore!! I have never been denied a vist by a Dr in a clinic, hospital or surgery. I very rarely go and see a dr anyway and the one time I am desparate I am turned away. I feel like moving back from where I came at least the NHS experience was far superior to the one i have experienced here at this Hospital. I should have been told I would not be seen if I was not registered with the Dr. The receptionist said it would be ok. Obviously not. What a waste of time and effort. If I had known this from the start I wouldn't have bothered going in the first place. Anyone new to the area - don't expect a warm welcome! More like a frosty brush off. Nice one Prince Edward Hosp- I just hope I don't have an emergency and end up in your hospital. Don't worry I won't be bothering you again! It goes without saying that if I registered with a dr. I would have gone to the surgery -

What could be improved

New people to the area should be told in advance that the Dr will not see the person unless registered with the Dr. But there again if the person is registered with a dr. wouldn't they go and see their own GP? Information is the key!

Anything else?

What happens to those new people moving to the area. They are turned away because they haven't registered yet with a GP yet? That cannot be fair. Doesn't the hopsital operate an E & D Policy?
