"Waste of time!"

About: Burnley General Hospital

What I liked

I attended the urgent care centre at burnley general with my son, the nurse in triage was fantastic.

What could be improved

It was very busy therefore we had a long wait but it was expected as we didnt see many staff around. The doctor was quite rude and wasnt really listening to what we had to say.

Anything else?

My son has an ongoing leg problem which seemed to be getting worse and he was in a lot of pain so I took him to urgent care, it was ridiculously busy so we knew we would have to wait. We saw the nurse in triage who was very nice with us and understood that my son was in a lot of pain. After triage we waited for 3 hours until we were called in the doctor sat my son the bed asked to describe the problem and bent his leg once and said "go to your GP" I asked him what he thought the problem was and why is was worse and he said "I dont know, we cant do anything about it here" I wasnt very happy and made my feelings known so the doctor went to look at my sons previous scan results on the computer when he came back he said "they were all clear in January so go to your GP" I still wasnt happy and explained to the doctor that my son was on high doses of strong painkillers that werent even taking the edge off! He went to speak to someone senior and we went home with an appointment for a week later at the fracture clinic. It was only when we left that I realised we had been there just under 4 hours and as a member of staff am fully aware of the "4 hour breach rule" and felt like we had been fobbed off and shoved out before we breached!
