I fell off my motor bike then got squashed by the car behind me, who was actually my friend.
I was rushed to hospital where the next 24 hours for me was critical! I was eventually given morphine which made me totally away in another world. The doctor came through to speak to my parents and listed the things wrong with me. I had broken me right shoulder and arm, broken left femur bone, broken right ankle, broken ribs which collapsed my lungs, a smashed up hip and my left foot would be left with severe nerve damage.
At the my parents broke down in tears fearing that they may lose their only son. Thankfully I don't remember my first two months in hospital because I was put under general anaesthetic due to my severe pain level!
Luckily here i am, six months later and out of hospital, I'm still in crutches due to the left foots nerve damage and not enough strength in it.
I was lucky, I almost died twice, first the accident then after two months asleep, i woke up and my heart was beating so fast the staff feared I would have a heart attack!
I was in Ayr hospital for the first 4 and a half months and then moved to the Douglas Grant rehabilitation centre in Irvine for the other 2 months!
Also unfortunately i cant remember a lot from Ayr hospital so i am unable to mention any staff member that stood out from the rest! Although i would like to send my gratitude to the Intensive care department in Ayr Hospital as they were the ones who saved my life and continued to keep me alive!
