"Being on the maternity ward at Tameside general hospital"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Excellent care through the birth. All the midwives on ward 27 and the assistants were friendly and nice. Just the odd few that I felt aren't and being offered the medication of the patient in the next bed just isn't acceptable. I told them it wasn't my meds and got told they were but another midwife came in and sorted it out.

Those nurses work long hours which they shouldn't have to do in my opinion, as small errors that are made could have serious results.

Thank you for your kind comments and congratulations on your new arrival.

I am pleased that you found the care at Tameside Hospital ‘excellent’. I was concerned to read about the incident. It would be helpful to know more about it so that we can learn from it. However, if you could let me have the details I will look into it.

Best wishes

Philip Dylak

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved?

Please contact Philip Dylak, Director of Nursing at philip.dylak@tgh.nhs.uk
