"The centre was good but I felt traumatised due to..."

About: Will Adams NHS Treatment Centre

What I liked

The facility was very clean and the staff were friendly. They tried to put me at ease about my procedure.

What could be improved

I feel that there should be patient choice about sedation. I have been experiencing pain after a previous operation and when I came to the centre for a colonoscopy I was concerned that I wouldn't have pain relief. When I had the procedure it could not be completed due to the amount of pain that I was in. I actually screamed out in pain twice and then the procedure was stopped. It made me sore for quite a few days and I was concerned as the procedure was not completed so if there was a problem further up I wouldn't know.

Anything else?

I was very impressed with the building and the staff, I was disappointed that I, the patient, was put in the situation where I had to go through a lot of pain and the indignity of showing the amount of pain that I was in. I would not want to go through that again and the quality of the building and staff did not change that. I felt exposed and vulnerable due to the situation I was put in. I am not saying that I wouldn't recommend the centre I just think that a little more care is needed rather than a quick turn around.
