"My care from the blood transfusion service at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Clinical haematology Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service

(as the patient),

Very friendly understanding staff, went out of their way to explain what was happening, why, and how it worked. I felt very well cared for but not "fussed" over - perfect sensitivity to my needs at all times.

My only reflection on what could have been avoided was what were to me very obvious internal issues between some members of the small team of staff being made very apparent to me by others. This came across as a bit unprofessional, but did not affect the quality of the care I received.

Dear friend154,

We are pleased to hear that you were very happy with the standard of care you received while in our unit. It is good to know that patients feel they are well looked after and our staff work hard to make sure that they take account of individual needs. It is disappointing that the interaction of some of the team has not been to the same high standard and I have discussed this with the manager of the department.

Our organisation is keen to promote positive values and behaviours and we have delivered a programme throughout SNBTS to increase staff awareness. We would like to address the concerns you have raised about staff acting unprofessionally and it would be helpful if you could email me at nss.snbtscomplaints@nhs.net with some more details including the date you attended and the procedure, so that we can give further support and training to those involved.

Thank you for giving such valuable feedback.
