What I liked

I had to visit A&E with a suspected DVT. They dealt with me really quickly and efficiently and referred me to the Primary Care Centre nearby, where I was quickly seen. I had to come back two days later for a scan for a blood clot on my leg and again there was speedy and efficient joint working between the Primary Care Centre and the Trust, this time the X Ray department. I arrived early at the PCC, was sent immediately to X Ray, who dealt with me very quickly, and offered real understanding, compassion, care and attention and went out of their way to make sure I understood what was going on and what would happen to me. I was really impressed and grateful. You could tell that this is how they are each and every day.

I can only say that I was astonished and delighted by how well LTH and the PCC worked together in a really seamless, effective way, with great attention and care for my needs. If I didn’t know different, I would have thought it was just one big department, aligned together and focused completely around my care, an impression that we would aspire to for all the services we provide.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and organisation I saw on show throughout my time in the Trust.

These two departments and the staff within them do your Trust great credit, and I wanted to ask you to pass on my personal thanks and compliments. I haven’t got contact details for the PCC but would be grateful if you could also pass my thanks on to them.

Happily, things aren’t anywhere near as bad as they could have been for me, and I’m really, really grateful.

We don't give enough praise to our hospitals and staff and recognise what's good about them - I am constantly astonished by how good things are on the ground
