My elderly mother attended the fracture clinic yesterday for a routine follow up appointment. Whilst walking from the ambulance, she fell and injured herself. Information received from family members is rather sketchy at the time of writing. As her eldest son & next of kin, I have made to phone calls to Ward 28 in order to ascertain her condition and ask about visiting times. Due to the fact that I work shifts, I advised the young lady on the phone that I would not be able to visit during those times and asked if I could make other arrangements. I was advised that I could only visit during set visiting hours. I advised the young lady that this was totally unnacceptable and outrageous and was advised to speak to the ward sister. As I understood, my mother is due for operation this afternoon and there is little point in ringing again until tomorrow. However, it is early days and can only hope that their nursing skills are better than their people skills.
