I was referred to a fertility assessment clinic by GP because I had symptoms and a blood test suggesting early menopause, and needed to go through this clinic to get a diagnosis and a referal to the assisted conception unit. There the nurse who saw me said they would need to re-do my blood test, after taking some tablets to bring on a period, and I could have the results from the consultant in 8 weeks time.
There were in fact no appointments for 13 weeks, and then the consultant was not available anyway. So I had to wait 13 weeks (not allowed results over the phone via GP) for an appointment back with the nurse who gave me my blood test results but either didn't have time or wasn't qualified to give me any information at all except that I would need a donor egg (which I already knew). No actual diagnosis (I looked up the results on wikipedia) or information and with it now being 5 months since GP referal it seemed inappropriate to go back there and ask questions.
Going through early menopause in your 30s is traumatic enough, especially if you are trying for a baby at the time, and to have your test results deliberately kept from you for 3 months is just cruel. To then leave a person with no information, not even a diagnosis, or support at all is also cruel.
